I am back in the UK and enjoying the cool weather.
My trip was inspiring in very many ways, and I can't wait to share some images with you. Firstly though, here's a sneak peek of the ss 12 pieces that I will put online for sale in the next few days.
Most of these garments are made up with ahimsa silk, an ethical fabric developed in India.

I love the appearance of ahimsa, it is more earthy-looking than conventional silk (the silk filament of the ahimsa is broken and can only be hand-spun), but it retains the same properties: low conductivity and high absorbency, making it a perfect fibre for both cool and hot climates.

Ahimsa is also one of the Yamas (5 abstensions) in the ancient text 'The Yoga Sutras' by Patanjali.
it is a Sanskrit word and it translates in English as 'the avoidance of violence': non-violence towards others and one's self, as well as in thought, word and deed.
in Buddhism and Jainism ahimsa also means non-violence towards every human being, plants and insects included.

I hope you enjoyed your trip! I can't imagine how you could be enjoying the UK weather more, though. I just adore hot weather.

Silk really is such a wonderful fibre, isn't it? It never ceases to surprise me how warm my silk garments are in winter - I feel that such a delicate product shouldn't be so warm (not sure why!).

It seems that ahimsa silk takes all the great things about this fibre another step further again.

I can't wait to see what you put online. :)

yeah silk is an amazing fibre, and ahimsa is pretty special.
what draws me to it, as well as the non-violence ethos of its process, is the idea of making something out of cocoons that in conventional silk production would otherwise get discarded.

...but I also learnt about the good aspects of (non-ahimsa) silk cultivation whilst in India, will share it soon.
